YRCP INTERNSHIPS

Currently STEAM ONWARD offers youth internships in the following areas:

• HEALTH
• VETERINARY MEDICINE 
• LAW

VETERINARY MEDICINE INTERNSHIP (Starts September 4, 2020)

• Introduce youth to the foundations of veterinary medicine
• Introduce youth to the basic concepts of veterinary medicine
• Introduce youth to career opportunities in veterinary medicine

YRCP HEALTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (Starts Summer 2021)

According to the Sullivan Commission report Missing Persons: Minorities in the Health Professions, increasing diversity in the health workforce is essential if we are to effectively address the problem of health care disparities in the United States. 

Such strategies include providing opportunities for minority youth to explore careers in health care and increase minority youth awareness of post high school programs in health.

YRCP HEALTH INTERNSHIP GOALS: 

• Engage youth in learning the effects of disparities of health care in the United States.
• Engage youth in explorations of health care career opportunities.
• Engage youth in health career job shadowing and/or internship opportunities.

YRCP LAW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (Starts Summer 2021)

Without a family member or a friend in the court system youth have a disconnect with legal and judicial systems. The YRCP Law Internship program helps to humanize the people of the court by providing youth with opportunities to hear real-life stories of individuals dealing with the local courts. 

YRCP LAW INTERNSHIP GOALS: 

• Expose minority, women, and underserved youth to careers in law, government, and the judicial system.  

• Provide youth with opportunities to interact with the court staff such as judges, district attorneys, public defenders, security officers and other court employees.

• Our program helps youth imagine and work toward pursuing higher education in the law and or judicial system.
