Timothy Cunningham was one of the youth founders of YRCP and guided the original aims of the program; being an activist intellectual - using education to improve the lives of others. A graduate of Morehouse College and Harvard University, Tim worked as an epidemiologist and researcher with the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
With YRCP I researched ways to use solar power., facilitated anti-tobacco events, and assisted in researching green house ideas. I currently work as a Cancer Researcher. My skills from YRCP also helped me with developing a medical herb garden at Tuskegee University. YRCP was an excellent program that allowed for me to grow and develop in a safe environment after school. YRCP has truly helped me to become a life long learner and will be eternally grateful for the experience I gained through the program.
Howard University Business Administration Finance Major YRCP helped me tackle my fears of public speaking. In order to start the Risers and Strivers Group, I had to speak to the principal of our school. I often felt inferior to those I presumed to be in power. The conversation with the principal taught me how to speak to people in charge and bring about change. Currently, I am a manager and often have to speak to the VP and President of the company. YRCP taught me how to be a leader.
Currently Undergraduate in Health Science and Music at Oakwood University Huntsville, AL. Worked on YRCP's Let’s Move Campaign, Cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay, RuRu (R U Respecting Yourself?) campaigns. “YRCP It taught me about public speaking and how to care for the community that I live in and how to be a forward thinker.”
With YRCP I participated in developing an orchard at the school. I studied nursing at Towson University. Currently I am a registered nursed in the emergency room at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
UMBC graduate, class of 2016. B. S. in Computer Science, B. A. in Mathematics. Got my Master's in Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and currently working at MITRE as a software engineer. With YRCP I worked on youth anti-tobacco outreach. I spearheaded the Anti-Tobacco Poster Contests and the demonstration gardens.
