ASIAN AMERICAN ANTI-TOBACCO
Cancer was the leading cause of deaths among Asians and Pacific Islanders in Maryland. Lung cancer mortality accounted for largest share of the overall cancer mortality for Maryland Asians and Pacific Islanders, followed by colon cancer.
According to the study Exploring Cultural, Psychosocial, and Environmental Factors Influencing Tobacco use among Asian Americans, Hispanics, African Americans and American Indians in Maryland(2008), there are many challenges to smoking cessation within Maryland’s Asian populations.
