I’m 16 years old and my career objective is to be a computer engineer. I want to use my love and interest for technology to help the less fortunate, but didn’t know exactly how. Now that I’m in YRCP, I want to develop technology to be used in poor communities and Third World countries around the world, as this organization has so many opportunities. This summer (2018) I participated in an internship at the Charles County Health Department in the Environmental Health Office.
At this internship, I went with some of the health department staff to assist and observe the beach water sampling at the different beaches in Charles County to make sure the water is safe for public use, such as the bacteria levels in the water at the different beaches. Along with another intern we collected tide water, measured the air temperature and precipitation. The staff at the Health Department was very friendly and welcoming, and I hope to have similar opportunities in the future.
