THE ARTS:

Diverse Opportunities for Expression in a Technically Focused World

Fostering the arts  and creativity is more important than ever in our global economy, Today’s workers need more than just skills and knowledge to be productive and

innovative participants in the workforce. Through the combination of knowledge and creativity, we can transform the way we

communicate, socialize, do business, and address social challenges. Creative experiences are part of the daily work life of engineers, business managers, and hundreds of other professionals. To succeed today and in the future, youth need to be inventive, resourceful, and imaginative. The best way to foster that creativity is through the arts.

In addition to STEM education the arts are also effective tools for  illustrating social problems and communicating solutions to community challenges. Artistic activity is consistent with the tenets of Participatory Action Research (PAR) because it is by definition action-oriented. It lends itself to collaborative activity because it is often used to identify issues and solutions.
